A flourish doodle / Thursday, October 26, 2006

While thinking through a client design, I sketched some flourishes and played around a bit with the color in Photoshop. Nothing I plan on using right now but I wanted to share. Take a look at the larger version (.jpg, size: 600k).

Niceness.  Do you do these with a Wacom Tablet or scan them in?  I like the ‘Batik’ feel.

Thanks Reuben, I scanned these in… the sketch is in pen. I tried a while back to do sketch with the tablet but honestly my wacom skills are soooo shoddy. I use my tablet mainly for trace work but I’m still really terrible with it. Some people I know (like Lafe) swear that eventually it becomes second nature, but I have yet to catch on.

Also, I am very much digging the Batik… reading a bit about that on Wikipedia. How do you find all of this interesting stuff!? smile

I know what you mean about the Wacom!

I stumbled onto the Kolam stuff when searching for symmetrical patterns and stuff I think.

I like the style of this.  It reminds me of a 60’s style paisley shirt that some hippie might smoke in.  It has a retro feel to it.

Groovy pic : )
