A Sketch in Pen / Tuesday, September 19, 2006

For today, a close-up of my sweet Katrijn’s face as it watches “Deal or No Deal.” This is my break from interactive and an attempt to revisit the joy of creating things in media other than digital. For the sketch I used black pen (Pilot Fine) on sketchbook paper (Canson). Because I enjoy when others make larger resolution images available, I invite you to take a peek at the full size version (.jpg, size: 856k).

In future sketches I’m going to make sure my pen isn’t leaking all over the drawing (which you can see more clearly in the full size version). The pen leaked out onto the right eye and somewhat made it difficult to accomplish the type of treatment I was after. I just rolled with it best I could and eventually decided to bluntly trace the eyes to highlight them.
