Mingo Launch / Thursday, April 05, 2007

This site was a pain to create. Not because it was hard to program, but because I was severely jealous of the people who get to live here. A new launch this week… one of two actually. This one was relatively easy to build, taking about 8 (relatively intense) days to get finished. Here is a screenshot from the Flash site… the total filesize of which is 100 kilobytes! The images etc are all pulled in externally to make things as clean as possible. Mingo is “a community in itself, including shops, restaurants, a bakery/market, salon and spa and much more.” Basically it’s this place in Myrtle Beach which is far, far nicer than my own place lol.

After a long hiatus, I’m back in action here. Since my last update a lot of things have happened business-wise (all good). It’s been an overall busy, intense, and rewarding five months and I appreciate all of the encouragement my friends and family have shown me during this time. It’s great to be able to have something to talk about on the blog. Experimentation-wise I had cooled off, instead focusing on writing a stronger site framework for my Flash projects while beefing up slightly on CSS.

I have the honor of (finally) working with a really kickass agency who are based in Myrtle Beach. They are incredible not just as artists but as people. The experience has been a lot better than I have ever experienced. The story of how I came to work with Motto will be the subject of another blog post.

Love the new choice of song.  A big improvement over the last selection based on the upbeat tempo and it adds even more life to the colors you chose.

Great overall job!

Thanks Lafe. The loop was the only reggae loop I could find in a pinch. It would be sweet to have something more authentic, but the timeframe didn’t allow it.
